WHAT I WATCHED

I ... watched so many things, wow. So let's dive in.
First up — Last Night in Soho. I mostly just watched this purely for Anya Taylor-Joy as well as Jessie Mei Li and I gotta say, they really had me in the first half. The story and the setting were enchanting and intriguing, but unfortunately, it fell prey to a ton of horror stereotypes in the second half. Overall, it was still okay, but that ending definitely dampened my excitement a lot.
I didn't even know the movie for The Hating Game was coming out at all, least of all this year and so I immediately jumped on it once I heard about it. It was fine, surprisingly true to the book but the actor for Josh was just okay in his role. Lucy Hale killed it, though.
In preparation for The Witcher and because I missed Henry Cavill, I watched The Man from U.N.C.L.E. even though it's not usually my go-to genre. I ended up quite enjoying it though, luckily. Also, gotta say, Henry Cavill's German and Italian are not bad at all.
And lastly, there's Ready or Not, which was definitely the worst of the bunch. I've been seeing all these glowing recommendations for it left and right, but it was very lackluster, kind of predictable and the emotional pay-off for the end felt really cheap. Meh.
So, onto the shows! As I already mentioned, there is The Witcher season 2, which I binged on release day. The ending would have absolutely broken me if I hadn't known it was coming, but even so, it still left my jaw on the floor. All in all, I really loved this season; I know a lot of people didn't, but personally it was ... everything.
There were only two episodes of Nancy Drew this month but still, they were, obviously, bangers. I am both extremely impatient for the next few episodes but also very anxious because I don't want the season to be over yet.
And so last but not least, there is The Wheel of Time. I must say, the show did not at all put me in the mood to read the books, but I did enjoy its TV counterpart mostly. I do think the momentum really petered out a lot during the last 2-3 episodes, but I think they did some solid groundwork to base the future seasons on, which are hopefully going to blow it out of the park. Am definitely going to be back for season 2.
